CGSpeaks 1.2.1

CGSpeaks is a communication tool designed to assist individuals with speech disabilities, such as ALS and other neurodegenerative conditions, by providing a straightforward method for expressing themselves. The application incorporates features that facilitate quick and efficient communication for users with limited mobility, allowing them to navigate the interface with ease and select or input text to be spoken.

Key features include:

• An input text box for message entry
• A favorites button for rapid addition of frequently used words or phrases
• An accessible dropdown menu to access saved favorites quickly
• Customizable 'quick speak' buttons for immediate access to commonly used text snippets
• A user-friendly interface for creating and combining phrases or words for more complete expression
• A clear button to erase previously entered text effortlessly
• A logging function that records spoken text for review or re-use

This application was developed inspired by my own experience with my partner, CG, who has ALS. After evaluating various existing options, it became evident that many apps lacked simplicity and ease of use tailored for her current communication needs.

Motivated by this gap, we embarked on creating an app that allows her to communicate quickly, comfortably, and reliably. The result is CGSpeaks.
